2nd Annual Novel Writing Contest Announced by Iota Publishing

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) March 5, 2008 -- Iota Publishing, a regional publishing house based in Irvine, California, introduced its 2008 novel writing competition today. Iota seeks published and unpublished authors who have completed manuscripts in the thriller, mystery, suspense, or sci-fi genres. The winner will receive a $1000 prize and a publishing contract with Iota. Submissions are via the Iota website (www.IotaPublishing.com/IotaWritingContestLink.asp ). The competition is open through April 30, 2008.

Last year's winner, Lorelei Armstrong, will have her book IN THE FACE published in November, 2008.

Terry Cooper, Iota President, said, "Iota's mission is about finding new authors. This contest is another way we reach out and encourage unpublished authors to seek publication. This year we've opened the contest to published authors as well, because we found hundreds of self-published and vanity press authors who still seek traditional publication opportunity."

The three finalists' manuscripts will be read by judges Pamela Guerrieri, Baron Birtcher, and Raymond Obstfeld. Guerrieri is a contract editor for several major publishing houses and has judged the Christy Awards, the RWA Awards, and the ECPA Book of the Year Awards, among others. Birtcher is the author of the Mike Travis detective mystery series and has been an MWA Edgar judge. Obstfeld has authored nearly fifty fiction and non-fiction books, including and Edgar-nominated book, and teaches creative writing at a local college.

Iota Publishing will release its debut books ANATOMY LESSON and ANGELS FALL on April 1, 2008.
