First Ever Name Painting Books Launched at Book EXPO 2007
(PRWEB) October 11, 2007 -- The first books ever written about the ancient Chinese art of name painting were presented this year at BookEXPO 2007, a three-day event that ended June 3 in New York City. The annual BookEXPO is the nation's most prestigious publishing event of the year with over two thousands exhibitors and hundreds of thousands of attendees.
"The amount of interest shown in these books," says author Linda Chun Yan Wang, "was phenomenal. Even other exhibitors would approach our booth and compliment the books, saying how attractive they are and asking what name painting is. Many people told us that our books and the set of supplies would be good gifts for children and art enthusiasts."
The two books presented by NPA Party Productions at BookEXPO are How to Name Paint and The Art of Name Painting. Both books are written by professional name painting artist Linda Chun Yan Wang.
How to Name Paint is a step-by-step introduction to this art. Printed in color with 44 pages, the book is written for children six years or older and adults. The book shows in detail how to create letters of the alphabet with pictures of birds, dragons, bamboo, and other objects and animals.
The Art of Name Painting contains the letters of the alphabet painted in 5 different styles--bird, bamboo, butterfly, dragon, and dolphin styles. Beginners can use the 76 color pages of this book as an encyclopedia of ideas and a guide for developing their own name painting style.
Along with the books, NPA Party Productions offers a set of supplies, which contains everything a person needs to start name painting, including a unique patent-pending name painting brush designed by Linda.
"Name painting is easy," says Linda. "Without any training--just by looking through our books for suggestions--children and adults can create gifts that others will love. The secret is our patent-pending brush which paints two colors at the same time."
Linda explains that contemporary name painting is different from the Chinese folk art that dates back more than 2,000 years, which developed from calligraphy.
"Traditionally," she says, "Name painting was used to represent Chinese characters in a person's name when a gift was needed for special events. Today, however, the art form has advanced, especially in New York City, where there are many name painting artists. Their dedication to this craft has led to many more designs, better details, and brighter colors."
"The colorfulness, the images that are meant to be read, the constantly changing nature of name painting, and its emphasis on unique expression make it unlike any other kind of artistic creation," she states.
Her books contain many beautiful examples of her creations.
