About the Book (Excerpts & Info)

In 1996, Raygene inherited the small and unpretentious library of his father. Some in-depth books appealed to him, particularly; "The Complete Works of Josephus," by Kregel, and "The Works of Philo," by Yonge. The simply written, but well illustrated books by Reader's Digest (which intrigued his father), were: "The Bible through the Ages;" "Who's Who in the Bible;" "Atlas of the Bible;"and "Great People of the Bible and How they Lived." These books contributed insight to the library because of the excellently sketched renderings of everyday pre-Christian life in Palestine.

Two other books that Raygene found interesting, because of exceptional photography and historical scenery, were "In the Footsteps of Jesus," by W. E. Pax, and "Where Jesus Walked," by Ken Duncan. After two years of intense research, and many book reviews later, Raygene was inspired to write a "visionary" story of Jesus and his family, set in the "recorded" era of Augustus Caesar and the Roman Empire It is a story that depicts Hebrew life and family relationships at home in Nazareth as well as Bethlehem and Jerusalem. The story Includes the wedding of Mary, at thirteen years of age, to Joseph, who was nearing fifty, and eventually, Jesus' 17 years of continuing education in the Essene community at Qumran under the tutorship of Philo of Alexandria. "Voice of the Messiah" is a compendium of the life of Jesus, from the time of the "immaculate" conception, until the beginning of his ministry. It is a story filled with intrigue, mystery, guile, murder, adultery, love, hate, and power. It is also an account of life, faith, and traditions that will leave you pleasantly filled with new views of Christianity, Judaism, Essenes, and the many other religions practiced during the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

Deftly constructed at 416 pages, Voice of the Messiah: My Best Seller is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the Christianity - Theology - Anthropology category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, Voice of the Messiah meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $16.95 and $24.95, respectively.

Additionally, Voice of the Messiah can be ordered by retailers or wholesalers for the maximum trade discount price set by the author in quantities of ten or more from the Outskirts Press wholesale online bookstore at www.outskirtspress.com/buybooks

About the Author

Prior to becoming a writer, Raygene practiced Architecture in California and later worked for USHUD as an Energy Engineer in Oregon. He retired from both in 1993. His final expertise, nonetheless, loomed in the area of "visionary religion." In this relatively new study he meticulously researched recorded historical data to use in proving (or disproving) disputable points of the bible. After retirement he continued studying religion while attending the Presbyterian Church in Cannon Beach Oregon. Raygene eventually became Elder of Adult Bible Education, a position he administered for several years.
