IOTA Publishing 2007 Novel Contest Winner Announced
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) June 13, 2007 -- Iota Publishing announced the winner of its 2007 Novel Writing Contest today: Lorelei Armstrong of Los Angeles, California. The winning manuscript, In The Face, was a unanimous decision by the judges. "I liked it the best because -- I couldn't put it down," wrote one of the judges.
Ms. Armstrong holds an undergraduate degree in fine arts from UCSB and is a recent graduate of the MFA program in screenwriting at UCLA. She has won several screenwriting contests and is a member of the Independent Writers Caucus of the WGAw. She is a resident of the state of Hawaii, but spends much of the year in Los Angeles. She's a ten-year attendee of the Santa Barbara Writers Conference.
In The Face is a mystery/science fiction novel about the price of fame and the pursuit of perfection. When Hollywood's top actor is accused of murder, it exposes a world of obsessed fans and stage parents so desperate that they'll seek specialized plastic surgery for their infant children in hopes of later fame. What happens when the unstable actor realizes that a superstar really can get away with murder?
The other two finalists in the contest were Naomi Dobbs of Durango, Colorado, and Kirt Hickman of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Information about their manuscripts is available on the Iota Publishing website (www.IotaPublishing.com).
"We are extremely pleased with the results of our first contest," said Iota president Terry Cooper. "The top ten submissions were excellent. We look forward to the publication of Ms. Armstrong's In The Face in early 2008." Several other submissions, including the other finalists, are being considered for publication. Cooper added, "We are forever grateful to our judges, Sherri Board, Wendy Hornsby, and Neal Stevens. Without their assistance, we could not have had such a successful contest."
Iota Publishing is a regional publisher of suspense, mystery, thriller, and sci-fi novels. Visit the Iota Publishing website for more information about submitting manuscripts or to get updates about Iota's upcoming list. Iota's debut trio of novels are currently scheduled for September, 2007, release.
