Educator's New Book Teaches How to Help Kids Create a Successful Life

March 26, 2007 (PRWeb) Denver, CO -- In his book Planning Today for Success Tomorrow: Helping Students Choose Their College or Trade School Major and Career, Dr. McCutcheon shows parents and school professionals how they can help young adults find out about themselves, set clear goals, develop life skills and create plans to take their personal and professional lives to a higher level in all areas. In his work, McCutcheon also places emphasis on life purposes, service, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Planning Today for Success Tomorrow not only helps adults help kids discover their potentials but also offers such practical advice as how to put together a résumé package, how to fill out job application forms, and how to become "employment ready." "Consider this text," Northridge professor Dr. Gregory Jackson says, to be the teacher's textbook, "which possesses the ingredients for what many call the 'magic' of gaining insight for creating effective personal and family goals."

Author Moses McCutcheon, Ed.D., found himself drifting along at an early age without a true sense of purpose, until he was drafted into the military. During the next twenty years, he rose to officer status and completed his college degree. He also developed management skills and found himself working creatively with groups of people, where, he says, he learned that leaders do not need to be authoritarian. On leaving the military, he started working on a Master's degree in Educational Administration at Pepperdine University. He then accepted positions as culinary instructor/administrator and vocational manager for the Job Corps, where he not only taught students but also trained other instructors to teach. Turning once again to further education for direction, McCutcheon entered Pepperdine's doctoral program in Organizational Leadership.

"As I read and reflected, I gradually came to a realization. I had found my life's purpose: It would be to help other people find theirs." McCutcheon's School-to-Success nonprofit community outreach project is a life purpose, career education, career guidance, mentoring, tutoring, and training program sponsored by the McCutcheon Research Group and the School-to-Success Foundation.
